Crackdown 3 Review

After a long development time, constant delays and terrible trailers Crackdown 3 released and is already an unforgettable release. It’s quite disappointing, to be honest. A famous quote is said by Nintendo’s very own “A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever” well obviously that quote doesn’t apply to Crackdown 3. Crackdown 3 is a game that took forever to come out and is a game that will be bad forever, so that famous quote doesn’t work in Crackdown 3’s favour and hey, I’m a fan of that quote, and no developer should rush their game but if you’re going to take forever to release a game of this quality then was there really a point in spending so long on it? I’m not insulting their work; I think it’s impressive they managed to release this game in the end after the continuous delays and the developers of Crackdown 3 should pat themselves on the back for releasing this game. Is the game terrible and one of the worst games of this year? Absolutely but is it an achievement they released the game and didn’t cancel it like Scalebound? Again absolutely. It’s always nice to see games released after tough development. Kingdom Hearts 3 eventually released but then again the difference between Kingdom Hearts 3 and Crackdown 3 is that one of them ended up being great while one ended up being terrible.

Crackdown 3 lacks soul, and the game has absolutely no personality. I feel bad for Terry Crews, and it’s a shame this had to be his video game debut. Graphically Crackdown 3 looks awful and does not look like a game made in this current generation. These days it is rare to find games that look bad and if I’m realistic graphics is the one categories games can score high. Crackdown 3 has a weak cell shaded look, and if someone told me this was an HD remaster of Crackdown 2, I wouldn’t blink an eye because that is what Crackdown 3 looks like. The characters models are horrific, Terry Crews character model is saddening and the enviroments are appaling. Crackdown 3 is just a mess visually overall, and it’s not like Crackdown 3 is one of those games where the visuals are bad, and the gameplay is good. Crackdown 3 has bad visuals and lousy gameplay.

The gameplay in Crackdown 3 is extremely repetitive and is barely an evolution on past Crackdown games. I wanted to see Crackdown grow into something more prominent, but it seems like developers took the safe route when making this game which is a significant disappointment. With Crackdown 3 I got that sense of “I’ve been there done that” it just wasn’t satisfying to play. The campaign was such a slog, and I didn’t enjoy myself at all. Crackdown 3 lacks innovation and new ideas, and after the long development time and the nine years between Crackdown 2 and 3, Crackdown 3 not being more innovative is a disappointment.

The music in Crackdown 3 is terrible and unforgettable, missions are repetitive, and the boss battles are underwhelming. The wait for this game was for nothing. It’s shocking just how disappointing and underwhelming this game is, and I’d rather have the scraps of Scalebound then this supposed to be magnum opus again. Crackdown 3 is Microsoft’s worst game to date. Crackdown 3 isn’t worth your time, but if you really want to experience this mess then I recommend you subscribe to the game pass trial if you haven’t already!
